Leave it to the Pros

Unfortunately, our attempts at towing the poor eagle to shore were not successful. The large bird was not able to maintain its balance on the ring long enough to be taken ashore. Luckily, another boat showed up, this time with some people from the parks district who specialized in similar animal rescues! I have to say I admire their work, especially when dealing with those razor-sharp talons!

Shortly after this picture was taken, two men were able to place a hood over the bird and lift it aboard, later taking it to land so that it could dry off and fly away :)

Aside: Yesterday the world watched as change came to America. I think there would be no better time to have posted these images involving a symbol of the United States, reminders of the way in which we may fall but we will be lifted up again by the hard working people in this nation and around the world. We live in a new world, one much more closely linked than ever before, and together we can overcome differences to build a better future... :)
